CyberAICorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS)

Full Scholarship Offer for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

The Department of Computer Science is offering a full scholarship (Scholarship for Service) for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in pursuing education and research in any computing-related discipline with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (AI+Cyber). The SFS program will also offer all students education, training, and opportunities to become AI+Cybersecurity professionals capable of advancing America's national security.

Scholarship Benefits*

  • Full tuition scholarship (up to 2-3 years, depending on degree program)
  • Academic-year stipends of $27,000 per year for undergraduate students and $37,000 per year for graduate students
  • A professional allowance of $6,000 per academic year for SFS Job Fair and other travel, conferences, research materials and supplies, a laptop, books, professional training and certifications, etc.
  • Participation in a targeted job fair and other professional-development events for SFS scholars
  • Participation in the CyberAICorps® Scholarship for Service Job Fair, where SFS recipients meet Federal government employment recruiters
  • Summer internships, typically paid, with a Federal government organization

  • A citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States? In addition, you must be one of the following:
  • Undergraduate, or M.S. students interested in pursuing education and research in a coherent, formal program focused on cybersecurity

*Scholarship recipients must agree to work after graduation for the Federal Government or, subject to approval of the NSF program office, for a State, Local, Tribal, or Territorial Government; or a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, in a position related to AI and/or cybersecurity for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.

  • Phase I application is very simple, name, email address, phone number and a few questions.
  • Phase II application is more in-depth, with statement of interest being provided, references and a resume.
  • Interviews are scheduled for the top 10 to 15 students.
  • Phase I Application is due on March 15.

  • Notification should be made by April 15.

Yes, the program will accept undergraduate and master’s students.

The scholarship will begin in the Fall semester. No summer semesters will be covered.

  • The student is required to apply for any employment with the federal agencies; information on jobs is shared, but it is the responsibility of the student to apply.

Yes, you must live in the community as you are required to be at all meetings and need to be able to attend.

No, tuition and fees are covered along with a PD fund that can be used for approved travel, conferences, research materials, supplies, a laptop, books, professional training, and certifications. You receive a nine 9-monthly stipend for every academic year that can be used for anything.

Yes, it must be 3.5 or higher.
