TRP Title Earns Silver Medal in the 2026 Independent Publisher Book Awards

TRP: The University Press of SHSU is pleased to announce that On Remembering My Friends, My First Job, and My Second-Favorite Weezer CD by Francisco Delgado has been awarded the Silver Medal in the Novella/Short Fiction category of the 2026 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPYs).

Established in 1996, the Independent Publisher Book Awards recognize outstanding books published by independent, university, and self-publishers around the world. Entries are evaluated by a panel of librarians, booksellers, reviewers, and designers, with medals awarded based on excellence in content, originality, and design.

Winner of the 2024 Clay Reynolds Novella Prize, On Remembering My Friends, My First Job, and My Second-Favorite Weezer CD follows Cody Taitano, a father who revisits formative moments from his youth after his son discovers an old Weezer CD during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving between 1999 and 2020, the novella reflects on adolescence, memory, and the shifting meanings of responsibility, friendship, and family across time.

The national recognition underscores TRP’s commitment to publishing distinguished literary works and highlights the impact of Sam Houston State University’s publishing program on readers nationwide.
