How Do I request my health records?
Existing and past clients may request health care records by contacting the Psychological Services Center (PSC) at 936.294.1210.
 
 
How do i submit a complaint?
If you have complaints or need to ask a question regarding unethical behavior, you may contact the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, the disciplinary and licensing authority. If you have complaints about false, misleading, or deceptive business practices, you may file a consumer complaint with the Office of the Attorney General.
 
 
Who does the psychological services center serve?

The majority of clients who seek services at the PSC are community members from Huntsville or the surrounding areas. We provide clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from all ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The PSC provides psychological assessment for students at SHSU as well as clients from the community. 

While psychotherapy may be provided to students, students enrolled at the university are encouraged first to contact the University Counseling Center, a separate campus facility not affiliated with the PSC, as student fees typically cover this service. 

Currently, the PSC provides services to several community organizations, including both therapy and assessments tailored to each organization's needs. New agencies interested in obtaining services through the PSC are encouraged to contact the PSC for more information. 

The PSC provides forensic evaluations to attorneys and courts in 19 counties. Evaluations are conducted at either the PSC and correctional settings.

 
 
who are the clinicians?
All clinicians at the PSC are doctoral students in psychology who are completing extensive training in providing psychological services. Licensed psychologists supervise all work completed at the PSC.
 
 
what fees are associated with services?

Fees at the clinic are determined by a sliding scale based on income and number of dependents. Costs for services provided via agency contracts are discussed with the clinic director. The PSC does not accept insurance. 

You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate. This is an estimate of how much your total amount will likely be for all requested services.  

 
 
how can i book an appointment?
To obtain services from the PSC, individuals are encouraged to call 936.294.1210 to complete a telephone intake with a student clinic coordinator. The telephone intake is free and typically takes about 20-45 minutes. During this time, the clinic coordinator will ask about your reasons for seeking psychological services and make recommendations on next steps. Although parents may call to seek service for their children, individuals over the age of 17 must contact the PSC on their own. 
 
The PSC strives to help all clients promptly. Our therapy waitlist tends to be quite short, while our assessment waitlist can be longer. Please ask the clinic coordinator for an update on the waitlist for the service you are requesting. If you are unable to wait the length of the waiting list, please ask the staff for an appropriate referral. 
 
Agencies, attorneys, and courts interested in obtaining services through the PSC should contact the doctoral clinic director for more information. 
 
 
does the PSC offer medication services?
We do not prescribe medication. However, we frequently provide referrals and/or provide those who prescribe medication with reports on diagnoses, overall functioning, etc. to expedite the process if requested by the client.
 
 
is the PSC a crisis facility?
The PSC does not provide 24-hour crisis intervention. Individuals experiencing a crisis are encouraged to contact the Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare crisis hotline at 800.659.6994, legal personnel such as 911 or the police, and/or the Huntsville Memorial Hospital at 936.291.4583.
 
 
IS THE PSC ADA COMPLIANT?
Yes! The PSC parking lot includes parking for people with disabilities; the front entrance is automated and wheelchair accessible; and all hallways, conference areas, and session spaces are wheelchair accessible. 
 
 
where can i park?
Reserved visitor parking is available at the PSC. Upon arrival, all clients should ask the front desk staff for a visitor pass to park in these reserved spaces.
