Kinesiology Labs & Learning Spaces
Facilities for Learning, Research, and Collaboration
The Department of Kinesiology at Sam Houston State University is proud to call the newly renovated first floor of the Lee Drain Building (LDB) home. Completed in the summer of 2021, this modern space was thoughtfully designed to support the department’s growing academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement.
Within the department, students can pursue four undergraduate degree pathways—Clinical Exercise Science, Human Performance and Wellness Management, Physical Education/Teacher Education (double major), and General Kinesiology—as well as three master’s degree programs in Athletic Training, Sport and Human Performance, and Sport Management. The innovative Clinical Exercise Science 3+2 program also allows students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years.
The expansion into LDB provides dedicated laboratories, classrooms, and collaborative areas that enhance teaching, research, and hands-on learning. The facility features 23 faculty and staff offices, flexible workspaces for graduate assistants, three large research labs, a computer lab, and multiple open areas for study and student connection.
This vibrant environment fosters a true sense of community—where students and faculty learn, research, and grow together in a space built for innovation, movement, and academic excellence.
