The Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre provides students with specialized spaces that support every stage of theatrical training, from acting and rehearsal to design, production, and performance. Each facility is designed to encourage hands-on learning, creative collaboration, and professional preparation.
Erica Starr Theatre
The largest performance venue for SHSU Theatre and Musical Theatre productions, offering a professional stage and seating for large-scale plays and musicals.
SHOWCASE Theatre
An intimate black-box theatre designed for smaller productions or student-directed performances.
Scene Shop
A fully equipped workspace where students design, build, and assemble sets, gaining hands-on experience in theatrical production.
Costume shop
A creative studio where students design, construct, and maintain costumes for productions, learning practical skills in wardrobe management and costume design.
Rehearsal Spaces
Large, open rooms used for acting classes, rehearsals, and scene work, providing students space to practice, collaborate, and refine performances.
Green Room
A lounge and preparation area for performers to relax, warm up, and prepare before going on stage or in-between classes.

Performance Opportunities
