College of Criminal Justice Online Master's Program Ranked No. 2 Nationally

The U.S. News & World Report has ranked Sam Houston State University's Criminal Justice Department #2 for best online master's program in the United States. Consistently recognized as a leader in criminal justice education, the highly touted master's program at SHSU ranks in the top five once again for the seventh year in a row.

Earlier this week, U.S. News and World Report, the global authority in education rankings, released their yearly list of best online programs. This year's rankings considered more than 1,700 programs, which is a significant increase from the previous 1,600 institutions considered in 2021. This high ranking joins the college's recent status as the #2 online master's program for veterans in the nation.

Dr. Phillip Lyons, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice at SHSU, believes that the Criminal Justice program provides opportunities to various audiences, saying, “All of our academic programs are solid, relevant, current, and beneficial. Our online programs provide a unique opportunity for us to deliver those programs to national and even international audiences in ways that amplify our voice in contemporary conversations around justice. I am pleased, but not surprised to see the U.S. News and World Report rankings recognize that.”
