Peer Health Ambassadors
learn about our program
What is the Peer Health Ambassador program?
The Peer Health Ambassador (PHA) program was developed to provide students a unique opportunity to make an impact on campus. PHAs are students who are dedicated to educating their fellow Bearkats on how to develop healthy behaviors and make safer choices while at SHSU.
What do Peer Health Ambassadors do?
- Host group presentations on different health and well-being topics
- Provide education through programming across campus - in the Library, Dining Halls, and at the Health Hut weekly on the Plaza
- Develop health education content for social media
How are Peer Health Ambassadors trained?
Peer Health Ambassadors receive training throughout the academic year on a variety of health and well-being topics, including substance use prevention, sexual health, healthy relationships, mental health, general wellness, and more. Additionally, all PHAs receive training as Certified Peer Educators (CPE) through the NASPA organization.
