Aging Research Collaborative (ARC)
What is arc?
The Aging Research Collaborative (ARC) is a cross-campus initiative at SHSU focused on understanding and supporting healthy aging across the lifespan. ARC connects biomedical, public health, social, environmental, and behavioral scientists with students and community partners to address aging-related challenges in Texas and beyond.
Mission
The Aging Research Collaborative (ARC) at SHSU is dedicated to advancing healthy aging through innovative research, education, and community partnerships. By integrating faculty, students, and regional collaborators, ARC seeks to address the unique needs of aging populations in Texas and beyond through interdisciplinary research, workforce development, and evidence-based interventions that improve health outcomes across the lifespan.
Vision
ARC envisions becoming a regional and national leader in aging research and gerontology training. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, securing sustainable research infrastructure, and engaging with industry and community partners, ARC aims to transform the understanding of aging mechanisms, strengthen health equity, and cultivate the next generation of researchers and professionals equipped to meet the challenges of aging populations.
