You will receive an email regarding the steps to register for the New International Student Orientation. At this orientation, you will learn about SHSU and explore the different opportunities that SHSU has to offer. Additionally, we will verify your documentation, so please make sure to have submitted them before your orientation date or have them in hand upon arrival.

All incoming students are encouraged to schedule a 1-on-1 advising appointment prior to Orientation through the Sam Center website. If unable to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor there will be some available during International Student Orientation. But to get the best chance to get added to your desired classes, please try to meet with them as soon as possible. ousing
You will register for classes after meeting with your academic advisor. F-1 students must maintain full-time enrollment each semester to remain in status.
Undergraduate students must enroll in at least 12 credit hours, with a maximum of 3 online credits counting toward full-time status.
Graduate students must enroll in at least 9 credit hours, with up to 3 online credits. Graduate assistants may qualify as full-time with 6 credit hours, with no more than 3 online credits.
Check your TSI status by reviewing DegreeWorks (TSI section). If you are missing scores (or an exemption) for any component (Math, Reading, and/or Writing), “Testing Required” will be posted in that component. If you are not TSI exempt, or if you are missing a score for any component, you will need to schedule a TSIA2 exam; this can be completed either in person or online with the SHSU Testing Center. Please note that this must be completed before you attend Orientation. For questions, please contact the TSI team regarding the process of TSI testing.
