All your books in one bundle
Bearkat Bundle is our all-encompassing, convenient textbook rental program that will provide undergraduate students with all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and electronic book versions by the first day of class! All undergraduate students will be automatically enrolled.
Program Pricing
Summer 2026: $23.75/credit hour
Fall 2026/Spring 2027: $24.75/credit hour
Register for your courses
Upon registering for courses, undergraduate students will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you've successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will send out communication about the next steps.
Verify your order
Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an order verification link to your university email to verify your order and select your delivery preference.
Verify your order at least 7 days prior to your first day of class to ensure you have your textbooks by the first class day. Schedule changes may require additional verifications.
Receive your books
An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Blackboard.
Opt Out/Opt In
We encourage students to enjoy deeply discounted and guaranteed course material for the first day of class. We also understand this program may not meet the needs of every student. If you do not wish to participate in the Bearkat Bundle program, you will need to opt-out every semester. You can change your program status beginning 30 days before classes starts through the census date of each semester.
To change your program status, use the button below to navigate to the program status screen. The program status screen will feature a table with semesters and blue button to the right of each semester. Click the button to opt out or opt back into the program.
Availability to change status:
• Fall 2025 - July 26th - Sept 10th
• Spring 2026 - December 13th - January 28th
• Summer 2026 - April 28th - June 2nd
FAQ
The Bearkat Bundle program fee will be added to the charges shown on your SHSU Student Account. Just like other charges, it can be paid by financial aid or be paid for out of pocket. If you enroll in a payment plan, this charge will be included in the payment plan calculations. Supplies are not included in this program and will need to be purchased separately.
Accessible Format Textbooks are available for students with disabilities. Eligibility and requests are handled by Services for Students with Disabilities.
If you change courses, revisit the email link to verify changes and select your delivery method. Or, visit us in store, bringing any course material no longer needed to exchange for new material.
The program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate before the end of each semester. An email will be sent at the end of each semester with more details.
The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their email address. Books can be returned to the Bookstore on campus.
You will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.
The purchase price for your textbooks will be added to your SHSU Student Account. You will receive emails informing you that your books are due at the end of your semester.
Supplies that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kids, engineering kits or nursing kits and recommended textbooks.
Students will receive emails to remind them to verify their order. Students who do not verify their order and do not opt-out will still be charged the Bearkat Bundle Fee.
Yes, you will be charged. If a student does not opt out of the program, they will still be charged the Bearkat Bundle fee.
You may return the book to the Bookstore on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class after you verify your order for any added courses, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/codes so that you have what you need.
You can only opt out during the "availability to change status" dates above. You can opt out during these time periods and return any books you have picked up. Any unreturned books will be charged to your account at the end of the semester.
Orders cannot be processed until your order is verified. If you have already verified your order, call the bookstore and give them your order number so they can check on the status of your order. If you have not confirmed or verified your order, please do so by clicking the confirm books button towards the top of the page.
Send a copy of the syllabus to bearkatbundle@shsu.edu. Make sure to include important information like course name and section and your contact information. If this is a digital book, please send a screenshot of your Bearkat Bundle section inside Blackboard to bearkatbundle@shsu.edu.
