SHSU College of Arts and Media to Host Grammy-Nominated Jazz Singer Jane Monheit

The Sam Houston State University College of Arts and Media will welcome internationally acclaimed, Grammy-nominated jazz and contemporary vocalist Jane Monheit to the Gaertner Performing Arts Center on Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

With many highly acclaimed solo albums, countless awards and accolades and over two decades of international touring experience, Jane has not only been an extremely successful bandleader but has had the privilege of collaborating with some of the greatest musicians, arrangers and producers in jazz.

After more than twenty years, twelve studio albums and countless recorded guest appearances, Jane has continued to tour the world, including performances at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and headlining nearly every legendary jazz club on the planet.

Monheit will join the SHSU Jazz Ensemble for a special collaborative performance in the Payne Concert Hall. Her powerful vocals, combined with the talent of SHSU’s student musicians, give audiences the opportunity to experience a nationally recognized artist alongside the next generation of jazz performers.
