The SHSU Rodeo Team, led by Coach Bubba Miller, boasts a strong legacy of triumphs in collegiate rodeo competitions sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Comprising dedicated student-athletes, the team participates in an array of thrilling events, including bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling and team roping, among others. This unique experience seamlessly intertwines academic pursuits with the fervor for rodeo, extending scholarships and nurturing a vibrant rodeo community among enthusiasts. Notably, a multitude of SHSU rodeo alumni have achieved prominence in the professional rodeo industry.

This innovative education and economic resource will feature 163,000sf+/- of improvements constructed on 60 of the 1,585ac Gibbs Ranch Education and Research Center. It will serve college students, vocational students, high school students, industry pontificators, event exhibitors and attendees, and rodeo competitors and enthusiasts. It will benefit students, the agricultural workforce, the agriculture industry, and the economic growth along the IH-45 corridor and 15 counties in East Texas that produces 67% of the 21,480 students attending SHSU.
