What’s the Difference Between the Two Degrees?
The Bachelor of Science requires additional hours of a social science (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, communication studies, etc.), whereas the Bachelor of Arts requires additional hours of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, American Sign, etc.).

Sam Houston State University’s Bachelor of Science in Victim Studies is the first of its kind in the nation. The program features courses in criminal justice, victimology and problem analysis to prepare students for careers helping victims of crime. The program offers specialized training in trauma response, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, and victim service delivery. Students gain a deep understanding of victimization across diverse populations and systems. With opportunities for hands-on experience and expert faculty support, graduates are prepared for roles in social services, law enforcement, non-profits, or government agencies focused on supporting victims and advancing justice.
