The Geo-Spatial Science Minor at Sam Houston State University equips students with the technical skills needed to collect, analyze, and interpret geographic data. Through coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial analysis, students learn how location-based technologies are used to understand and solve complex challenges across industries and communities.
What Will I Study?
Students complete coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and advanced GIS applications before selecting courses in areas such as computer cartography, remote sensing, GIS programming, spatial analysis, and GIS applications in public health or law enforcement. Additional coursework allows students to apply geospatial technologies to environmental, atmospheric, and societal challenges.
