EHS Management at SHSU

The BS in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management at SHSU prepares students to lead sustainability and safety initiatives across various industries. This program blends environmental science, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance to address today’s most pressing health and safety challenges. Students learn through applied projects, OSHA-aligned coursework, and hands-on lab experiences. Unlike other Engineering Technology concentrations that focus on design or electronics, this program combines engineering, safety science, and environmental management. Accreditation

The Engineering Technology with a Concentration in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management program is now accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).

The Engineering Technology, BS with a concentration in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management provides knowledge and proficiency for students to make workplaces safer and to address hazardous situations and emergency events. Through hands-on assignments, students will be equipped with the knowledge needed to anticipate, recognize and evaluate potential hazards and enhance workplace safety.

There are three concentrations under Engineering Technology (the concentrations are not separated out in this data). A notable scholarship Engineering Technology students can apply for is the Fred Pirkle Endowed Scholarship. It is no less than $5,000 if awarded, and it is awarded to qualifying full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in a discipline with a curriculum dedicated to Engineering Technology. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 for this scholarship, and it is a one-time award that students must reapply for future consideration.
