Undergraduate Programs

The REAL program prepares students to evaluate, finance, develop, and manage real estate opportunities. Through hands-on coursework in real estate principles, law, debt, equity, and development, students build practical skills in investment analysis, financial decision-making, and property development. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and experience to pursue careers across the dynamic real estate industry.

The BBA in Business Administration: Real Estate Concentration is designed to provide graduates with the following marketable skills:

  • Market research skills applied to real estate.
  • Financial analysis skills applied to real estate.
  • Regulatory and/or economic analysis skills applied to real estate.
  • Development project analysis skills applied to real estate.
  • Oral and written communication skills applied to real estate.

The BS in Integrated Studies: Land and Urban Property Development Concentration combines Construction Management, Geo-Spatial Science, and Real Estate minors to provide graduates with technical and analytical skills in these complementary fields that allow for better decision-making in site selections, environmental impact assessments, urban planning, as well as the ability to understand market trends, property valuation, and development processes. Graduates will gain insight into communicating with stakeholders across disciplines, including engineers, architects, planners, and real estate professionals. This combination prepares students for various careers, such as project and facilities manager, real estate developer, GIS specialist, construction/urban planner, and sustainability consultant.

 A Minor in Real Estate (18 hours) is available to all bachelor's degree programs that permit a minor.  The Minor in Real Estate requires the following courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all courses attempted at SHSU as well as a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all courses attempted in the minor, including both residence and transfer hours.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Real Estate Analysis provides an educational opportunity that is narrower in scope, and shorter in duration, than a degree program.  It is ideal for those transitioning from one sector of real estate into real estate project feasibility analysis or those in the process of satisfying education requirements for various professional real estate designations.
