Siteimprove Website Issue Report

SHSU's websites are required to meet accessibility and content standards. This Siteimprove report helps identify issues with our websites. IMC - Digital will fix issues with templates and component code. Website Owners are responsible for their content.

How to use the report

Accessing for the First Time

  1. Select Dashboards

    Dashboards link is located on the side navigation.

     
  2. Select the current Report

    Report select is located under the Site and Group selections.
     
  3. Select the star icon next to Website Issue Report


     
  4. Scroll back to the top and select Website Issue Report


     

Searching your Website

All Widgets have a URL field. Enter your website's URL to see those specific results. Take off any final forward slash (/) for best results. i.e. https://www.shsu.edu/offices-departments/integrated-marketing-communications

Select the Title or URL link to see your page with the Siteimprove page report. This can help identify where the issues are located.

Accessibility

The Accessibility Issues Widget shows majors issues on pages (WCAG Level A & AA).

For example, you find an Empty headings issue. Selecting Title or URL brings up the page report.

In this image, there is a highlighted, empty box showing an extra heading. Once you go to the page in Cascade, you can remove the extra heading.

PDFs

The PDF Issues Widget lists PDFs that have at least one high level issue. An issue here often means accessibility should be reviewed in full.

For questions about PDFs, contact the EIRAC.

The Pages with Broken Links Widget lists pages that have at least one broken link. Fixing these links helps people find what they need and reduces frustration.

Misspellings

The Misspellings Widget shows potential misspellings and words that can be reviewed. Results here are suggestions and may be appropriate in context.

Images larger than 1 MB

Large images get in the way of people viewing our websites. At the bottom of this report is a large image Widget. Search the Widget for your website. Head into Cascade and navigate to your image. Download the image and follow the optimizing images Web Guide.
