Events Component

Invite others to Participate

The Events component highlights upcoming activities that are relevant to a specific program, department, or office. It helps visitors see what is happening at SHSU in a structured and visually engaging way.

This component can be added to most pages across the SHSU website. The background color can be set to either sky or sand.

All event details, including title, date, image, and preview text, are imported directly from Localist, SHSU’s event system. Once the initial setup is complete for a college or department, events can be displayed using filters and tags.

Important: each page can only have one event component.

Minimum Required Fields

• Headline
• At least 2 events

Character Limits

• Headline: 35 characters
• Description: 200 characters
• CTA Link Text: 20 characters

Usage Guidelines

• Placement: The Events component can be used on most SHSU webpages as an elective feature.
• Relevance: Choose events that are contextually connected to the page’s purpose, such as admissions events on program pages or department-hosted events on academic pages.
• Consistency: Use tagging within Localist to streamline event display across multiple pages.
• Consider Alternatives: Consider using other components such as  a callout if you want to highlight a singular important event.
• Background Theme: Select sky or sand to complement the page’s overall layout and maintain visual balance.
• Only One per Page: Only one event component can be added to a page.
