The framework for the future of Bowers Stadium and Sam Houston football was on full display Thursday as local officials and supporters gathered for a topping out ceremony. The venue has been home to Bearkat football for nearly four decades and continues evolving to blend its rich history with the world-class university setting it inhabits.

Fueled by a relentless drive to strengthen local health initiatives and the next generation of Texas physicians, SHSU-COM launched a Huntsville-based sports medicine fellowship program in August. Fellows will focus on sports medicine in collaboration with local and university staples, including Sam Houston Athletics.

Sam Houston State University alumna Sheree Bogany further cemented herself as an educational force in the state of Texas through prestigious recognition. The Class of 2001 member was named H-E-B's Excellence in Education 2025 Secondary Principal Award as well as the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Region 2 Principal of the Year.

SHSU-COCJ announced a new partnership with South Texas College in the Rio Grande Valley geared toward their mission of meeting prospective students where they are. Personnel from both sides of the innovative collaboration gathered in McAllen, Texas on Aug. 26 to officially cement the alliance.

Through time, education and experience, Sgt. Jacob Manuel has positioned himself to make his dreams in law enforcement a reality. The recent Sam Houston State University graduate will continue his Bearkat journey this fall and pursue his Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management.
