Who We Are

Founded in 2017, the Sam Houston State University Diversity Committee includes faculty, staff, and students from across the institution. The committee seeks to foster an environment in which all members of our community have the opportunity to thrive personally and academically without fear of discrimination.

Through its programs and initiatives, the Diversity Committee will encourage scholarship and learning that is respectful of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. In particular, the committee will promote an environment that respects differences including but not limited to ethnic origin, race, cultural background, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, geographic and linguistic background, age, or ability. We also encourage a diversity of philosophical points of view and believe in open discussion and debate.
