First Year Experience
The First-Year Experience (FYE) program is a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the important first year of college. Drawing on campus-wide resources, FYE provides academic and selected non-academic services dedicated to supporting a student’s transition into college.
In a Freshman Learning Community, students with the same major or similar interests take two to three classes together each semester, plan and participate in social events throughout their first year, and may also live in the same residence hall.

The Honors College is designed to attract and retain highly competent and motivated students and seeks to create an intellectual and social climate that encourages students to develop their potential both in and out of the classroom.
Intramural Sports provides the SHSU community the opportunity to compete and have fun in various team and individual sports.

The Department of Recreational Sports and Activities offers a wide variety of recreational programming and provides facilities for students, faculty and staff. Activities offered include intramural sports, informal recreation, club sports, wellness, special events, outdoor recreation, and aquatics.
