These are truly exceptional times. As the COVID-19 public health crisis unfolds, every day brings new challenges and guidance. Our SHSU administration has been tirelessly consulting available resources to make decisions that are in the best interest of the health and welfare of our campus community.
I understand many of you may be facing financial hardship with numerous businesses closing or reducing hours. Our Bearkat community is here to help. The SHSU Food Pantry is open and we are working with the Houston Food Bank to increase distribution. Our alumni and donors are helping support the Bearkat Emergency Fund, which is available if you need short-term financial support. To apply for emergency assistance, please fill out this form.
This is a time of deep personal concern and uncertainty. Thank you for your flexibility, your patience, and your perseverance through these challenges.
I know I speak for all faculty and staff when I say how deeply I will miss the vibrancy that our students bring to campus and how incomplete the semester will feel.
Please continue to be safe.
Dana G. Hoyt, President
