Bearkat Community,

What a year it has been! While the unforeseen challenges of COVID-19 have definitely shaped our course over the past year, we have not let COVID-19 define us.

SHSU continues to follow CDC and Texas Department of Health Services guidance as we move forward with our response to COVID-19. Although this week, the pause of the administration of the J&J vaccine was a small setback in our vaccination efforts, we are still encouraged by the number of students, faculty and staff who are getting vaccinated. This is a crucial step we need to take as we prepare for the Fall 2021 semester. Additionally, the university will randomly survey students, faculty and staff throughout the summer as understanding how many in our campus community have been vaccinated is one component in our planning process. Those who are eligible are encouraged to be vaccinated.

Thank you for you continued commitment to keeping our university safer. We look forward to finishing this academic year the same way we started – stronger and together.

Where Can I Get A Vaccine?

For those students, faculty and staff who live in the Montgomery and Walker County area, the SHSU Physicians, located at 690 S Loop 336 W, Suite 200, Conroe, currently offers Moderna and Pfizer (two dose) vaccinations. For information, call 936.307.0267 or visit the SHSU Physicians website. The Walker County COVID-19 Vaccination Scheduler Application can also help you find a vaccine near you.

Updates to COVID Protocols

The Summer 2021 sessions will continue to look similar to Spring 2021. SHSU campus community members should continue to follow current health and safety guidelines on campus. Mini sessions begin May 13 and summer term classes begin May 27. These sessions will continue in the previously scheduled instructional modes and feature current safety measures, including face coverings indoors without changes and outdoors only when physical distancing is not possible.

For those who plan to travel, visit Staying Strong ’21 to view updates to travel protocols in accordance with CDC guidelines.

COVID-19 Updates

Weekly updates of confirmed cases of COVID-19 will continue to be added to the university’s dashboard every Monday through Friday, at approximately 4:30 p.m. To see the current number of cases, visit Dashboard Updates.

REMINDER: If you received a positive COVID-19 test, please self-report your results immediately so we may ensure our dashboard is as accurate as possible.
