It’s pronounced “k-eye alpha” and it stands for Christ Ambassadors found in 2 Corinthians 5:20. Chi Alpha (XA for short) is an interdenominational student ministry organization. All faiths and individuals without faith are welcome; we focus on discipleship, community, and building lifelong friendships. We have discipleship groups (called small groups) every week and weekly church services. Over spring break and summer break, we have mission trips all over the world!
I joined XA in the fall semester of my first year and my now best friend Kailey embraced me immediately. I joined her small group and learned how to love God, people, and even myself better. After two years of being in a small group, I became a leader myself. This year I have a group of girls that love to hangout, do homework, and study the Bible together. My friend Ki was baptized this past semester!
Through this organization, I have traveled to a couple different countries and other states. I have met people from all different walks of life and been able to live out the university motto, “The measure of a life is its service” by serving the Huntsville community, my campus, and students on other campuses. Chi Alpha is the largest student organization on campus with about 850 students, but SHSU offers over 260 student organizations including academic, multicultural, social, and religious. There is something for everyone, because everyone should get involved. It feels good to be a part of something bigger than yourself and it looks great on a resume too!

Well, what are you waiting for? Go find out what the measure of your life will be! I’ll give you a hint, it will be more than you ever expected and more than you will ever see in your lifetime. Eat ‘em up Kats!!
