Chapter 1607 R.E.A.P. (Reserve Educational Assistance Program) provides educational assistance to members of the Reserve units called to active duty in response to a war or national emergency (contingency operation) as declared by the President or Congress.

To qualify for R.E.A.P., you must:

  • Be a reservist or National Guard member;
  • Have served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, for at least 90 consecutive days;
  • Be in good standing with an active drilling Selected Reserve Unit.

You may receive 36 months of full time entitlement at your given rate. A REAP participant may not use more than 48 months of entitlement under any combination of VA education programs. You may not receive assistance under more than one VA education program at one time.
