Chelsea Smith - Committee Chair, Dean of Students

Chelsea Smith

Title:  Associate Dean of Students for Parent Relations and Special Programs & Title IX Deputy Coordinator

Responsibilities: oversight of all aspects of the Office of Parent Relations and Special Programs in the Dean of Students' Office, including: overseeing Bearkat Family Weekend, Primary Advisor for the SHSU Orange Keys Official University Student Ambassadors, Coordinating the University Memorial Service (Raven's Call), Coordinating the Faculty and Staff Recognition Program (Keys of Excellence), Co-Advisor to Student Government Association (SGA), and Administrative Advisor for the SHSU Parents' Association (SHSUPA). Chelsea is also responsible for Absence Notifications and Office Assessment. She is the Chair of the Free Speech Preparedness Team, and is the Title IX Deputy Coordinator for Student Affairs where she assist with Title IX investigations and compliance. She supervises the Parent Relations & Special Programs Coordinator and Student Assistant.

Jasmine Rodriguez - Equity & Inclusion/Title IX

Responsibilities: oversees all Title IX investigations ensuring promptness and impartiality.

Megan Richardson, MPH - Health Promotions, Programming Coordinator

Megan Richardson

Title: Health Center Program Coordinator

Responsibilities: Implementation of health-related programming to improve the health literacy of the SHSU community, supervision of health and wellness interns and student workers, coordinates social media presence, and serves as a campus advisor for Peer Health Advocates organization.

Kelly Patterson - Student Activities

Kelly Patterson

Title:  Program Coordinator for Special Events/Traditions

Responsibilities: Coordinates departmental events while promoting student involvement; oversees Welcome Week, Homecoming, Tree of Light, and The Sammys; assists in the management of Student Activities social media platforms; serves on the Fall YR Staff Development, and New Student Convocation committees.

Max Walling - Leadership Initiatives

Max Walling

Title:  Associate Director of Leadership Initiatives

Responsibilities: Oversight of departmental leadership and service programs that include Leadership Over Lunch, the Emerging Leaders Transfer Student Cohort, StrengthsQuest, and Bearkat Service Break. Additionally Max coordinates departmental social media platforms and serves as a co-chair for the SHSU American Democracy Project.

Corbin Franklin - Residence Life

Title:  Informal Recreation Coordinator

Responsibilities: Leads a group of 10 Resident Advisors, oversees the development and execution of all area programming, maintain accurate resident records in a residential area of 350 students.

Jennifer Alexander - Bearkat OneCard Office

Jennifer Alexander

Title:  Administrative Assistant III

Responsibilities:Provides a high level of customer services in the Bearkat OneCard Office. Answers phones, returns phone calls and emails, processes departmental ID cards, contacts students and departments to resolve issues pertaining to Bearkat OneCard and ID cards, and maintains office inventory. Answers questions regarding the function of the Bearkat OneCard, access and banking features. Oversees student assistants, schedules, general office work and projects.

Lynn Clopton - Ex Officio - VP for Student Affairs

Title:  Director of Student Affairs Finance & Budget

Programs: Student Travel Fund, Campus Life Development Fund, TSUS and THECB Student awards/positions

Responsibilities: Oversee all budgetary and financial operations, personnel changes/requests, and contracts; University Bookstore Liaison; Student Service Fee committee member; Campus Life Development Fund committee member, Division of Student Affairs Faculty/Staff Annual Fund Campaign committee member, Spring/Fall Division staff development committee member.

Responsibilities: Divisional Assessment Training, liaison for CampusLabs, Core Curriculum Assessment Committee Student Affairs Representative, Institutional Review Board Protection of Human Subjects, Spring/Fall Staff Development

James VanRoekel - Ex Officio - Lowman Student Center

James VanRoekel

Title:  Director of Student Affairs Technology & Associate Director of Lowman Student Center

Responsibilities: provides technology expertise and guidance to the Student Affairs Division. He acts as and offers to assist you as a liaison to IT in the planning and implementing technology-based projects and solutions.  James also serves the LSC as Associate Director where he coordinates assessment, conducts long and short-range planning in technology and facilities services, and assists students, staff, and faculty in planning and running events. He is a member of EDUCAUSE, Infocomm International, and ACUI Continuing Contributor Team.

Rosa Escamilla Coss - Ex Officio - VP for Student Affairs

Rosa Escamilla Coss

Title:  Marketing & Event Coordinator

Responsibilities: Manage marketing and web development for the Office of the VP for Student Affairs. Create, compile and maintain online publications, and weekly mass email distribution to the campus community. Plan and coordinate departmental special events and design all graphics for departmental promotional materials.
