Move-In Weekend Information

Fall 2024 Move-In Dates

Appointments required for move-in. You must be checked in by 5:00PM, Sunday, August 18th.

First Year Students:

  • August 16-18, 2024 - Residence Halls Open for First Year Student Move-in (by appointment only)
  • August 18, 2024 - New Student Convocation
  • August 19-22, 2024 - Bearkat Kickoff
  • August 26, 2024 - First Class Day

Upperclassmen Students:

  • TBD - Residence Halls Open for Upperclassmen Student Move-in (by appointment only)
  • August 26, 2024 - First Class Day

Move-In Checklist

Request a Bearkat OneCard at least 2 weeks prior to move-in. Request a Card here.

Activate your Bearkat OneCard at least 24 hours prior to check-in (Your card grants you access to your building). Activate your card here

  1. Communicate with your roommate or suitemates about shared items like shower curtains, rugs, cleaning supplies, etc
  2. Check in to your residence hall
  3. Sign your Resident Agreement and pick up your key(s)
  4. Meet your roommates or suitemates
  5. Meet your Resident Advisor (RA)
  6. Pick up textbooks

  • Bedding for an XL Twin Bed (36"x78")
  • Flashlight
  • Alarm Clock
  • Power Strip/Surge Protector
  • Clothes Hangers
  • Bath Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Thermometer
  • Refrigerator (5.0 cu.ft or less)*

*Students may not bring a refrigerator if one is provided by the university.

Bearkat OneCard Information

Most residence halls use card access for building entry. In order to enter your residence hall, you must have your Bearkat OneCard in hand and activated when you arrive. To obtain your official student ID, please contact the Bearkat OneCard Office at (936) 294-2273.

Hanging Items in Your Residence Hall

Every residence hall is unique. Please refer to our student handbook for building specific hanging rules.

Receiving Mail from Home

KatPost delivers all mail and packages from the U.S. Postal Service, while FedEx & UPS can deliver directly to your locations.  Student mail should be addressed with a Student ID number to KatPost.

Cancelling Your Housing Reservation

If you have decided to attend another university or take on a different challenge, you must cancel your housing reservation with us. To cancel, log into the Housing Portal and enter the application.
