Campus Priority Projects

During the Fall of 2021, Interim Vice President for Information Technology, Jim Bradley, worked with campus senior leadership to identify top priority campus projects that involved a technology component. Those projects identified as priority are as follows:

  • Implementation of Army IgnitED for Veterans Resource Center

    The Army decommissioned the GOARMY website and replaced it with Army IgnitED. This change requires new uploads for veteran student information to award funding to veteran students.

  • Build Out of College of Osteopathic Medicine Year 3 & 4

    This project is to develop Banner processes to handle the College of Osteopathic Medicine needs for students in year 3 and 4.

  • Driver Permit Software to Replace UPDX05WP

    Create a replacement for the current online driver permit request system to manage the driver permit requests and approvals for SHSU staff, students and volunteers.

  • Implementation of Syntellis Axiom Budget Planning Software

    Syntellis Axiom is a budget planning software designed to be integrated with SHSU's Ellucian Banner system through Ellucian Ethos.

  • Implementation of Blackboard Genius

    Genius integrates with Blackboard to provide a front-end portal for course catalog listings and student information systems for non-academic students.

  • Implementation of 5-Week Parts of Term for Criminal Justice

    This project will be to implement 5 a/b/c week terms for the Homeland Security program in the CJ Department.

  • Establish Data Center Redundancy

    This project will make the data centers located in AB1 and ITSB work the same. In the event we were to lose service to one, the other would pick up the load, allowing for minimal impact to campus.

  • Develop Dedicated User Acceptance Testing Environment

    Create a dedicated test environment that mirrors the production environment.  ERP Analysts (Developers) and functional users will have the ability to perform testing for new patches, upgrades, and integrations prior to rolling the updates to a production environment.

  • Implementation of TimeClock Plus

    Provides business requirements and solution research for a campus-wide centralized timekeeping system and to recommend a best-value course of action along with associated plans and strategies.

  • Implementation of Student Health Center EMR– Point and Click

    The Student Health Center and Student Counseling Center will be replacing their existing electronic medical records systems, Medicat and Titanium, with Point and Click EMR.

  • Implementation of EduNav Academic Planner

    Academic Planner for Enrollment Management to help students to plan courses with a "what if" feature. This will increase graduation rates, less dropouts.

  • Implementation of Oracle Student Financial Planning

    SFP will manage Financial Aid operations remotely with features that:

    • enable touchless/digital aid processes
    • allow secure electronic submission of documents and e-signatures
    • speed up the identification of students eligible to receive aid
    • allow timely awarding of funds
    • allow students to create accounts for parents

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (MyWorkspace) Expansion

    VDI provides a workspace that mimics a university Windows workstation through a web portal. This project will expand this service to replace the current remote.shsu.edu system as well as IT@Sam and Payroll workstation configurations.

  • Implementation of uConfirm for Human Resources

    uConfirm will be the new employment verification system used by external parties wanting to verify employment information about past or present SHSU employees. This project will build out the integrations with the uConfirm system to provide the needed employee information for the appropriate verifications.
