The International Student Organization (ISO) presents International Week 2021! Here you will find all of the information you need to know to fully experience all International Week has to offer this year.

The International Student Organization is a casual group of international and American students who want to know more about each other’s cultures and lives. Joining ISO is a great way to meet students from all over the world! Scavenger Hunt

Join in the fun this week, and complete scavenger hunt challenges to WIN PRIZES!

Grand Prize Winner – The student who completes the most scavenger hunt challenges for the week will win a filled carry-on suitcase. Now we won’t tell you all that’s in the suitcase, but we will tell you that it includes a Bluetooth speaker!

Three Runner-Up Prizes – The students who complete the second, third, and fourth most scavenger hunt challenges for the week will win a portable charger and a meal voucher for campus!

Participants – All participants will receive an International Week goodie bag filled with snacks from around the world as a thank you from ISO.

Rules:

  1. There will be 5 scavenger hunt challenges released each day of the week at 8 a.m. here on this website and on social media, for a total of 25 scavenger hunt challenges.
  2. You must document each completed challenge with a picture or video. Your face or a friend’s face must be in it!
  3. Submit your photo or video of the completed challenge in one of two ways:
    1. Posting it on social media and tagging ISO (Instagram @officialshsu_iso, Facebook @officialshsuiso) or Study Abroad (@shsustudyabroad). If you have a private account, screenshot the post and direct message it to ISO or Study Abroad to be accounted for.
    2. Completing the Google form here.
  4. When submitting your scavenger hunt challenge, list the challenge number you are completing.
  5. Scavenger hunt challenges do not have to be completed in order, but some are only able to be completed the day they are released.
  6. All scavenger hunt challenges must be submitted one of the two ways by Friday, April 9th at 11:59pm to be accounted for. No late submissions will be accepted.
  7. Winners will be announced, and prizes will be available for pick-up the following week!
  8. HAVE FUN!

Monday's Scavenger Hunt Challenges

  • #1 – Visit the International Week website and learn what there is to do all week!
  • #2 – Take a picture with the flag display near the bell tower.
  • #3 – Visit the BSM tent in the LSC Yard from 11am-1pm and try out some henna. Henna is used largely in India for body decoration.
  • #4 – Attend AMA: Bearkats Abroad Ambassadors from 1pm-2pm to ask fellow SHSU students all of your study abroad questions!
  • #5 – It’s a Monday, and sometimes that can be a good thing or bad thing. Visit the Virtual International Fair to learn which country can invert it’s flag depending on whether it’s at peace or at war. Enter the name of the country in the Google form.

Tuesday's Scavenger Hunt Challenges

  • #6  Follow ISO on social media. Send in a screenshot of you following us on Instagram or liking our page on Facebook.
  • #7 – Go meet an ISO member at the International Week promotion table at the LSC Yard, where they will be all week from 11am-2pm
  • #8 – Participate in PC Bingo: International Week Edition hosted by Program Council online from 6-7:30pm
  • #9 – Follow Study Abroad on Instagram. Send in a screenshot of you following us.
  • #10 – Visit the Virtual International Fair to learn which country used to be called “La Perle des Antilles” or in English “Pearl of the Islands.” Enter the name of the country in the Google form.

Wednesday's Scavenger Hunt Challenges

  • #11 – Visit the International Bake Sale (happening in the LSC Yard from 11am-2pm).
  • #12 – Show off your dish made from the International Cooking Class. Ingredients can be picked up in the Office of International Programs (FAR 116) or at the Food Pantry.
  • #13  Come to the OIP office (FAR 116) and take a picture at our International photo booth.
  • #14 – Attend an event hosted by Study Abroad.
  • #15 – Visit the Virtual International Fair to learn which country is the final destination for the wildebeest migration, one of the seven wonders of the world.

Thursday's Scavenger Hunt Challenges

  • #16 - Get an International Student Organization shirt at the International Week promotion table in the LSC Yard and send in a picture of you with your shirt.
  • #17 – Take a picture with an Office of International Programs staff member.
  • #18 – Like the OIP page on Facebook!
  • #19 – Follow SHSU NSE on Instagram.
  • #20 - Visit the Virtual International Fair to learn which country is home to the largest forest in the world, covering more than 60% of the country.

The Virtual International Fair can be accessed at any point during International Week using this link or by clicking below.

To navigate through the International Fair, follow these instructions:

  1. Click on this link or the picture below to direct you to the International Fair.
  2. Click the “Present” play button to enter into the fair!
  3. Each orange location marker is located in a country that is represented here at Sam Houston State University. There are two ways to navigate the fair: 1) Click the right arrow at the bottom of your screen to take you through the entire programmed fair. -OR- 2) To learn more about a specific country, click on the orange location marker to zoom in.
  4. Watch the videos, read the information, or complete a scavenger hunt challenge for that country.
  5. To zoom back out to choose another country, click the right arrow at the bottom of your screen.
  6. Choose another country and continue to learn about the cultures represented here at SHSU from around the world!
  7. Remember to check back each day to complete new scavenger hunt challenges.

Virtual Study Abroad Fair

The Virtual Study Abroad Fair is our COVID-friendly version of our typical in-person Study Abroad Fair that is hosted every year during International Week. It will look different from meeting our affiliated partners and students who have studied abroad, but we hope that you will still be able to effectively learn about study abroad and National Student Exchange opportunities available to you.
