Academic Support Seminars

  • Overview

    Join The Graduate School for academic support seminars. Academic Support Seminars are a series of sessions that provide an array of educational tips and strategies to help graduate-level students accelerate in their learning process. Events are open to all graduate students, regardless of program or completion track.   

    Seminars will be hosted in person and via Zoom. If you plan to attend in person, sessions will be hosted at The Graduate School - Arleigh B. Templeton Building (Huntsville).

The Graduate & Professional School is fully committed to your overall success and strives to help you meet your academic, professional, and career-focused goals. KATCH Sessions are accountability meetings where you can connect, work, and support your peers. Whether you need to study for an exam, complete a course assignment or major paper, prepare for a career endeavor, or network, we encourage you to immerse yourself in your graduate community. Sessions are open to all SHSU graduate students, regardless of program or completion track.

Fall KATCH Sessions

    The Graduate and Professional School is here for you after hectic workdays and during weekends. We are fully committed to your overall success and strive to help you meet various academic, professional, and career-focused goals. KATCH Sessions are accountability and goal-setting meetings where scholars support each other and get work done together. Whether you are studying for an exam, working on a course paper, or editing your thesis, dissertation, or capstone project, we encourage you to immerse yourself in productivity. Sessions are open to all graduate students, regardless of program or completion track.  

    You do not have to be present for the whole session – a brief pop-in can do the trick!

    All sessions will be hosted virtually; two of them will be hybrid. If you choose to attend in person, the hybrid (*) session will be hosted at The Graduate School – Arleigh B. Templeton Building (Huntsville). Dinner will be provided. 

Blackboard/Online Community

  • Overview

    We are pleased to provide a virtual community for graduate students, especially our online and distance learners. The community allows you to interact with The Graduate School staff, peer groups, and other campus personnel. You can also find news, updates, and event information. To access the community, log into Blackboard and locate the Thesis, Dissertation, & Support Resources page under the Courses tab and the My Organizations section.
