Parent/Family Orientation sessions run concurrently from Freshman Orientation. Parents, relatives, and other guests are encouraged to attend Orientation at the same time as their student, but should be aware that contact with your student is limited during Orientation sessions. Over half of our students attend Orientation with parents or family members.
During Orientation, parents and family members have access to many university resources, faculty members, and administrators. One of the best parts of the program is the opportunity to interact with current student leaders who provide a rich perspective on life at Sam Houston State University. Parents/family members are able to share questions and concerns with the Orientation staff and other parents in a comfortable relaxed setting.
Families will need to secure their own overnight accommodations.
Sibling Orientation sessions run concurrently from Freshman Orientation. Siblings age 3-13 years will have the opportunity to view and participate in many of the programs, resources, and activities available to Sam Houston State University students. Families will need to secure their own overnight accommodations.
