The Writing Center at the Sam Houston Academic Success Center provides several resources for the faculty and staff at Sam Houston State University. We are happy to assist your students at any of your students during any step of their writing process. Our sessions focus on revision in an effort to better assist the learner. We do not edit papers and cannot guarantee grades. Instead, we focus on the learner, offering feedback and suggestions to help students with their writing in their current and future assignments.
Writing Center Orientations
Faculty and Staff that are teaching writing enhanced courses (or writing intensive courses) are invited to request Writing Center orientations for their classes. We recommend that instructors bring their students to the Academic Success Center for an in-center orientation, but in-class orientations are available upon request. Orientations are short and informal, lasting about 10 minutes.
If you would like to schedule an orientation, please give us a call at 936-294-3680 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Writing Center Presentations
In addition to traditional Writing Center orientations, we are happy to provide more targeted presentations upon request. Presentations are similar to our orientations and last about 10 minutes and go over quick topics, such as tips and tricks for college writing and brief overviews of citation styles. We ask that faculty are present so as to better facilitate our services and answer any instructor-specific questions that may arise during our presentations.
If you would like to schedule a class presentation, please give us a call at 936-294-3680 or e-mail us at email@example.com for further information.
We believe it is important to keep instructors informed about the progress and effort of their students. Upon request, reports can be e-mailed to instructors listing the students that have attended sessions at the Writing Center. Unfortunately, we are unable to e-mail reports automatically due to the volume of visits we receive. Instructors can also look up reports on their students using Campus Connect or by filling out an attendance request form for their class.
If you would like to know more information about a particular session, please give us a call at 936-294-3680 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be happy to assist you.
