COSET Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Mission
The College of Science and Engineering Technology (COSET) at Sam Houston State University welcomes people from every diverse walk of life, honoring the shared humanity that binds us. We celebrate our differences as opportunities to learn from each other. We recognize that each unique identity, perspective, and set of experiences enriches our body's capacity for service. We commit to mutual respect, equitable treatment, and guardianship of the common good.
Vision
To honor these commitments, we strive to create a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for the diverse members of the COSET community (students, staff, faculty, administration). In so doing, we seek to: 1) celebrate and promote our community, as well as 2) explore and address potential inequities associated with college recruitment, retention, and bias.
We acknowledge that our shared humanity and sources of diversity may include, but are not limited to, age, race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, nationality, immigration status, sexual orientation, religion, ability/disability status, ideology/worldview, and socioeconomic status.
The pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and improvement is iterative and continuous. As such, we encourage community members to join our ongoing efforts.
