Season Summers joined the Sam Houston State University music faculty in 2015 and is Principal Oboist of the Lake Charles Symphony in Louisiana. As an active freelancer in the Houston area, she has performed with such organizations as Opera in the Heights, Musiqa, Aperio, and Theatre Under the Stars. Season is passionate about oboe pedagogy; teaching at Bocal Majority’s Advanced Double Reed Institute of Texas (ADRIT) North Houston camp and furthering the professional development of music educators at the Center for Music Education of SHSU. She often dedicates time to high school and collegiate level master classes and has been the featured oboe clinician at the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA) convention and the American Band College convention in Oregon.

Season is currently studying master oboe teachers in the United States as her dissertation topic. This study seeks to determine their commonalities and create a profile for performance majors interested in pursuing work as a music educator.

Season received a BM from Baylor University, a MM and a Graduate Certificate in Performance from Northwestern University and is working to complete her DMA at Arizona State University, where she is currently ABD. Her primary teachers include Dr. Linda Gilbert, Dr. Doris DeLoach, Ray Still, and Martin Schuring.
