Ben Osborne began his studies in music with the piano at age five and moving to trombone at the age of 12. He grew up in Lubbock, TX, where he also received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from Texas Tech University in 2002 studying under Don Lucas. After one year of urban ministry in Chicago, he completed two years of full-time study at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a certificate of graduate studies. Ben holds a master’s degree in trombone performance (2007) from Southern Methodist University where he studied with John Kitzman.
Ben serves as second trombone with the Austin Symphony Orchestra, joining in 2008. He performs frequently with the Houston Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and San Antonio Symphony Orchestras, and is on faculty at the MasterWorks Festival in Spartanburg, SC. In 2010 Ben received an appointment as Lecturer of Trombone at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
As a soloist Ben has performed with the Metropolitan Winds in the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX, the Sam Houston State Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and in recital as a guest artist at Baylor University, the University of Central Arkansas, Southern Methodist University, Texas State University, and Sam Houston State University.
Ben is an artist and clinician with the Edwards Instrument Company. He currently resides in Conroe, TX with his wife, Rachel, and their son, Zeke Samuel.
