Honors Advising E-FormAdvising Facts | Spring 2021 Course & Seminar List

Fall 2020 advising for the Spring 2021 semester opens Monday, October 5, 2020

 

Students who plan to advance register for the Spring 2021 semester must be advised by Friday, October 30, 2020.

For this semester ONLY, all Honors students are eligible for Advanced Registration if they get Honors Advised by the advising deadline above.

However, to register early during the upcoming Spring 2021 semester for the Fall 2021 term, all Honors students must earn and submit at least 10 hours of community service at the end of the Fall 2020 semester.  

Advance Registration for the Spring 2021 term will open on Thursday, November 5, at 8:00 AM.

Note: Incoming freshman students are not eligible for advance registration until their first official semester as SHSU Honors students. For example, incoming freshmen for the Fall 2020 semester are not eligible for advance registration during the Spring 2020 term for the Fall 2020 semester but will be eligible for advance registration during the Fall 2020 semester for the Spring 2021 semester.


Virtual Peer Advising Sessions:

These advising sessions do NOT require an appointment and are held by Honors Ambassadors and the Honors College Staff. Peer advisement holds the same value as being advised by a Dean.

Students can find our Advising E-Form on our Honors College Organization Blackboard Advising page under the Honors Advising tab and at the top of this page.

Once the form is completed and submitted, students will receive a link to the Session that can be used during the Peer Advising schedule below.

  • Note: If students make an appointment with a Dean, they will send students a separate link for their session. DO NOT use the link listed as Peer Advising.

Virtual Peer Advising Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM


One-on-One Virtual Advising Appointments:

Make the earliest appointments possible. Advising appointments are limited and advisors’ schedules can fill up quickly. Graduating seniors must schedule their advising appointment with Dean Bell; she is not available for non-senior advising. (Please see below.)  

Students will schedule advising appointments through Campus Connect. Campus Connect is accessible through MySam under the students tab.

To schedule advising with Dean Bell through Campus Connect, students can follow the instructions on our Honors Blackboard Scheduling an Honors Advising Appointment page under the Honors Advising tab.

Students can find our Advising E-Form on our Honors Blackboard Advising page under the Honors Advising tab and at the top of this page. 

  • As long as students have the “Send Me an Email” box checked, they will receive a unique link for their advising appointment through Campus Connect.
    • The Campus Connect appointment confirmation page is where the link will show. Students need to make sure that they have the "Send Me an Email" box checked to ensure that they receive the link before they click the Confirm Appointment button.
  • Students should make sure to complete the Advising E-Form prior to their appointment time.
  • Students must submit their Advising E-Form 30 minutes before the start of their advising appointment.

Graduate One-on-One Advising Appointments:

  • As long as students have the “Send Me an Email” box checked, they will receive a unique link for their advising appointment. 
    • The Campus Connect appointment confirmation page is where the link will show. Students need to make sure that they have the "Send Me an Email" box checked to ensure that they receive the link before they click the Confirm Appointment button.
  • Students should make sure to complete the Advising E-Form prior to their appointment time.
  • Students must submit their Advising E-Form 30 minutes before the start of their advising appointment

Students graduating in the Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 semesters must be advised by Dean Bell.

If you are graduating this Fall, you should have been advised by Dean Bell during the previous semester. You must contact our office immediately for assistance.

Note: If you are a graduating Honors student and Dean Bell’s schedule is full, please contact our office via email at honors@shsu.edu for assistance as well.
