Dr. Hynes teaches managerial communication, business writing, and presentation skills on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is experienced in distance education, and has taught graduate courses online since 1998 for the University of Missouri-St. Louis as well as for SHSU.
She earned a B.A. in the Teaching of English and Speech from the University of Illinois-Chicago, an M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois-Urbana, and a Ph.D. in Adult Education from St. Louis University.
Dr. Hynes' current research interests are:
- Assessing students’ cultural sensitivity in business communication courses
- The role of communication in corporate culture change
- The effect of technology use on students' writing competency
The 5th edition of her book, Managerial Communication: Strategies and Applications, was published by McGraw-Hill in 2010.
Dr. Hynes is an officer in her international professional association, the Association of Business Communication, serving as President in 2010-11.
