Summary of PhD Thesis:
The problem I addressed was to find good adaptive algorithms for choosing knots
and best partitions of a region (in any dimension) to interpolate (or approximate in
some norm) an arbitrary smooth surface with a spline surface and to determine the
asymptotics of the optimal error.
