INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

Purpose. Advise and assist the Director of International Programs in all matters relating to the internationalization of the campus and to promote and encourage the internationalization of the SHSU campus.  Reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and makes recommendations to the vice president for consideration by the Academic Policy Council.

The committee should proactively examine and propose recommendations relating to the broad range of international programs and activities including, but not limited to, international students studying on the Sam Houston State University campus, Sam Houston State University students studying in international settings, internationalization of the curriculum, intensive English, infrastructural needs, international faculty research, exchange and travel, community relations with and support of international students, and funding for international activities and programs including student fees allocated for international travel.

Appointments.  The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs makes all appointments.  By virtue of position, the Director of International Programs serves as Chair.  The committee consists of a representative from the Athletics, Division of Finance and Operations, Enrollment Management, Division of Student Services, a student member, and a faculty representative nominated by each academic dean (5).  The term of appointment for the student will be one academic year (September 1 through May 31).  After the initial appointments, other members will serve rotating two-year terms.
