Resignation Request Due to Extenuating Circumstances

 

A resignation request after the University Academic Calendar deadline, will be considered ONLY in cases where in the university’s judgement the student has demonstrated extenuating circumstances such as:

  1. Incapacity due to an injury and/or illness requiring an extensive period of recuperation.
  2. A significant personal emergency.
  3. Inability to contact the university by the deadline because of a medical or personal emergency.

The request must be submitted in writing to the Academic Dean in the student’s major field of study and filed, under normal circumstances, no later than the last day of final examinations as stated in the University Academic Calendar.

Students with an undeclared major, general studies, should submit their request to Dean, College of Arts and Sciences.

Written verification of the emergency (see attachment) must be provided by a physician or hospital. Death in the immediate family may be verified by an obituary or a memorial folder.
