INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS COMMITTEE

Purpose. Supports division vice presidents in monitoring, evaluating and promoting appropriate and useful institutional effectiveness (assessment) activities.

  • To sample, and review evidence of institutional effectiveness (assessment) activities, and to advise and report to the Vice Presidents on its quality;
  • To identify and recommend appropriate types of assessment, as well as to identify inappropriate types;
  • To assist the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment advising departments and programs on appropriate assessment;
  • To contribute to developing plans for institution-wide assessment;
  • To help to promote awareness and appreciation of good assessment and its use in improving both educational programs and university operations.

Appointments. The President makes all appointments from recommendations submitted by the Director of Institutional Research. The Director of Institutional Research serves as chair. The chairs of the three working subcommittees are appointed by the Director of Institutional Research. The committee consists of twenty-five members serving indefinite terms.
