MAPPING
YOUR UNIX ACCOUNT THROUGH YOUR START MENU( On Campus)
Note: For this method to work you must be logged into your organization's
account in one of our computer labs on campus and you must have your organization's
UNIX Account/password.
1.
Click on your Start Button
2. Go to Programs
3. Choose SHSU Utilities from the bottom half of the programs menu
4. Click on Connect U Drive to UNX1 home directory
5. Enter your
password when prompted
MAPPING
YOUR UNIX ACCOUNT THROUGH THE EXPLORER( On Campus)
Note:
For this method to work you must be logged into your organization's account
in one of our computer labs on campus and you must have your organization's
UNIX Account/password..
1. You must
have a UNIX account/password
2. Open Windows Explorer (right-click on the START button in the lower
left corner of the screen, click explore)
3. Click on TOOLS from PDM Click on "Map Network Drive"
4. Change drive to "U"
5. Set path to: \\unx1\homes
6. Click the "connect using different username". Enter the username (ex: org_cbe) and password.
7. Check the "Reconnect at logon box" Click "OK"
8. Check to see that you username is correct, type in your UNIX password
in the lower box, and then click "OK"
9. Back in the Explorer Window, scroll down to the "U" drive and double
click on it.
10. Save your Web Page (html) files and your image (.jpeg or .gif) files
in the public_html folder(public_html must be all lowercase)
Adding your web account to Windows as an ftp site:
1. You must
have a UNIX account/password
2. Open Windows Explorer (right-click on the START button in the lower
left corner of the screen, click explore)
3. Click My Network Places
4. Select Add a network place
5. Click Next.
6. Select Choose another network location. Click next.
7. Internet or network address: ftp://unx1.shsu.edu Click next.
8. Unchecked Log on anonymously. Enter your orgs username in the box. Click next.
9. When prompted for the password, enter the password for the site.
