Why Should you Make a Web Page for your Organization?

You can sum up the answer to this question in one word, Recruitment.  Every student organization is driven by this need. Recruitment is what pays the operational bills, fills up the meeting rooms and increases the organization's standing on campus. If you are a good organization, odds are that you have been doing this already in one form or another. Building your web site, only increases the audience size to which you are giving information.

Beyond Recruitment, it also increases organization communication. By posting calendars, special event notices, phone lists, e-mail lists, and Guestbooks, you are giving your members a way to communicate even when they are not next door.

Not only are you increasing your communication within the organization, you are increasing the amount outside of it as well. By providing information/details of organization events online, you are effectively increasing the numbers of people who see what you do and when you do it. So that Fundraiser that you have yearly, could increase in size exponentially.

There are many other reasons to build and maintain a web page, but with just the aforementioned ones, you should be well on your way to wanting to create one.

How hard is it to make a Web Page?

When web development was in it's infancy, you had to know how to put Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) code together. Now that it has grown towards its teenage years, there are numerous web editors that do the hard coding for you. If you have used a word processor, then you should really have no problem using a web editor. Most Web editors, are like word processors with the addition of a couple more bells and whistles.

Now, with a little effort, a mouse and a keyboard, almost anyone can put a web page together (provided of course that they also have a computer and monitor).
