Microsoft Publisher has been added to the list
of programs in the SHSU Program Installation Menu
(PC). Go to the Publishing

adding Adobe Acrobat 6 and Quark 5 to this program

| Exchanging
Large Files?
Have you ever had problems sending a scanned
image or large file via e-mail to a friend or
colleague? Was it too big to send?
Did the recipient's inbox bounce it back because
it was too large to handle? Or maybe you've been
at home attempting to check your e-mail via modem
and it took over an hour to retrieve a particular
item. If so, we have the solution for you!
You can upload the file(s) to your web space
and post a link to the particular file in your
e-mail. We will be offering training
courses on how to do just that this month
and in the months to come.
Not only can this solution relieve the e-mail
angst you suffer, it also relieves stress on our
mail server and network because it reduces the
amount of large files being sent back and forth,
thereby speeding up your e-mail! If you
can't attend a training course or want to find
out sooner how to do this, just call Web/Faculty
Support at 44495 or the Helpdesk
at 41950.

| Training
Check out this month's training
calendar and sign up for any of our course
offerings. The spotlight course this month
deals with how to upload large files to your web
space and then send a link to friends/colleagues
so they can download the file via their web browser.
If you haven't checked out the Mindleaders
course catalog lately, look again. Classes range
from PCs for Dummies to Interview Skills.
The University Computer Services department will
pay your annual subscription to sign up for these
courses. You can take these courses from home
or work---anywhere you can access the Internet.
So sign up to learn something to help you here
on campus, and also have access to Estate Planning
or Investing Fundamentals classes too.

| Security:
Information Confidentiality
Reminder: The Common Area
on WNTAP1 is for sharing information with others
on campus with ease. It is not
an area to store confidential information such
as social security numbers, full name and address
information. The folder is open to access
to anyone with an SHSU account and it is this
"ease of use" that precludes the Common
Area from being a good place to store vital or
confidential information.
Thank you for working with us to ensure that
we maintain a secure environment for all of our
important information.
