SHSU Technology Tutorials | SamNet Wireless Setup

Our campus wireless network has a secure log-in web page, just like the wireless access in most Hotels and hot spots. Authenticated users will be able to reach all resources that are accessible from the internet with the exception of telnet and ftp, as they are clear text protocols.

What this means for you:

Easy authentication onto the SamNet Wireless network via any web browser (No pre-configuration necessary)

Support for most wireless devices.

Bandwidth priority will be given to actual SHSU users over guest users.

You can move anywhere inside the SamNet Wireless controlled network without losing connection since the device can just hop from one radio to the next.

The access points are load balanced so that one point doesn't get overloaded with connections.

Connecting to the network

Select your "Start" menu and then in Connects look in your available wireless networks for the "SamNet" Network and click the "Connect to" button. That should bring up this page:

Select the "I agree to terms check box" and login with your SHSU Computer account Username and Passphrase and you are connected to the Internet and SHSU.

*Note: If you do not have a university account or simply would like to connect as a guest please select the Guest Login option. Note as a guest you will be subject to a slower connection speed than an official user.
