Nell - Basics
Part I: Accessing and Logging into Nell
To access Nell and be able to login will depend on the operation system that you are using. Click on the link for further instructions on how to access the software application to be used to access Nell.
NOTE: If you fail to enter your password correctly 3 or more times, your account will be locked out for 20 minutes increasing with each additional failure. Please contact the Helpdesk to have your account unlocked. If a password change is needed, you will need to bring your SHSU ID to the Helpdesk to have it reset.

Upon logon you will directed to the Nell [lkc1] Prompt ($). Enter “SHSU” and press Enter. This will pull up the SHSU Administrative Programs . If you have a Personal Menu setup, that is the menu that you will see. If you do not, you will see the Main Menu. Pressing (M) will switch between the two menus.
Main Menu
You can choose from the following options on the Main Menu: <H>elp <O>wner <P>rogram <M>enu <E>xit.

To access a program, enter P for Program and then enter the first few letters of the program name you wish to use. For example, to access the Balance Record Maintenance you would enter P then ABA or ABAL01M and press Enter. Once you have made the desired selections to run the report, you can then select to print the report. There are some reports that must first run overnight before the data can be accessed and/or printed. Depending on the report, the data will be sent to SamWeb-PDF Print to allow for printing or a data file will need to be downloaded from your Nell directory to be imported into a program such as MS Excel. Please refer to our Filezilla – Moving Files Around guide for detailed instructions on how to download files from your Nell directory.
To exit a program press CTRL+Z. To abort processing without printing, press 0 on the Keypad.

Part III: Printing
On some jobs, you are not given the option to select a destination and the job automatically goes to your PDF Print directory on SamWeb -> Information Technology -> PDF Print.
If a job doesn’t automatically go to PDF Print, you still have the option of doing so. To send a report to PDF Print from Nell, refer to the SamWeb-PDF Printing technology tutorial.
Again, if you wish to not print simply press 0 on your Keypad.
