NON-SIP PHONE GUIDES

Your new phone has many features to make communicating at Sam Houston easier for you. This guide will walk you through the Layout and Features of the phone as well as setting up your voice mail.

LCD SCREEN
Displays time, date, phone number, caller ID, line call status, and the soft key buttons.phone
LINE OR SPEED DIAL

Opens a new line to call on or speed dials the number on the screen.
FOOT STAND
Adjusts the angle of the phone base to individual requirements.
SOFT KEYS
Menu options that change as you navigate through different screens.
ON-SCREEN FEATURE BARS
Provides access to voice mail, call histories, phone settings, network configurations, and status information.
VOLUME BAR
Increases or decreases the volume.
FUNCTION TOGGLES
Turns on/off headset options, mute, and speaker phone.
SCROLL KEY
Allows navigations through items displayed on LCD screen.
“ ?” BUTTON
Displays online help for a phone key or function.

Adjusting the Height of the Footstand
    1. Push in the Footstand adjustment knob on the right hand side of the phone.
    2. With the button depressed adjust the height of the phone.
    3. Depress the footstand knob.

Placing a Call
There are six options for placing a call.
    1. Lift the Handset and dial the number.
    2. Press a Line button and then dial the number.
    3. Press the Speaker button and dial the number.
    4. Press the Headset button and dial the number.
    5. Press the New Call Soft key button and dial the number.
    6. Press the Speed Dial button and dial the number.

To place an internal call: dial the 5-digit extension 4-****

Placing an Outside Call

To place a local call: dial 9 + the 7-digit number

Answering a Call

There are three options for ending a call.
    1. Hang up the Handset.
    2. Press the End Call Soft Key
    3. Press the Speaker button.

Muting a Call
    1. Press the Mute button.
    2. To disengage mute, press Mute again.
Note: If you are using mute along with speakerphone, lifting the handset will disengage mute.

Ending a Call
There are three options for ending a call.
    1. Hangup the Handset.
    2. Press the EndCall Soft Key.
    3. Press the Speaker button.

Placing a Call on Hold
1. During a call, Press the Hold Soft key.
2. To resume the call, Press the Resume Call Soft key.

Forwarding All Calls
You can forward all calls to an IP Phone or a non-IP phone.
1. Press the CFwdAll Soft key.
2. Dial the number that you wish to forward calls to.
3. To cancel Forwarding Press the CFwdAll Soft key.

Redialing the Most Recent Dialed Number
    1. Lift the Handset and Press the Redial Soft key.
Note: You can also press the Redial soft key to place the call via Speakerphone.

Using Call History
    1. Press the Directories button to display the directories menu.
    2. Use the Scroll keys to highlight the desired Call History Item, Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, and Received Calls.
    3. Press the Select soft key to display the desired call history.
    4. To Speed Dial a number, use the Scroll keys to highlight the desired number and Press the Dial soft key. (If you decide not to make the call Press the Exit soft key twice to exit the Directories menu.)

Voice Mail Actions and Options

While listening to the message you can perform the following functions:

 Skip or Move Ahead (also used to skip a greeting when leaving voice mail)#

After listening to a message you can perform these functions:

 To broadcast a group message, use the ActiveAssistant to create a private distribution list  

Accessing Voice Mail
The red light on your Handset lights up when you have a voice mail message and the LCD displays the number of messages that you have received. Press the Messages button and follow the voice instructions.

To check your VMail Remotely:
    1. Call your 10-digit extension.
    2. Unity VM will answer. Press *.
    3. When it asks for your ID, enter your mailbox extension followed by #.
    4. Enter your password followed by #.
Once you have logged into the system you can perform these functions.
To hear new messages__________press 1
To send a new message_________press 2
To review old messages_________press 3
For set-up options______________press 4

Changing the Ringer Type
    1. Press the Settings button.
    2. Use the Scroll keys to highlight the Ring Type in the Settings menu.
    3. Press the Select soft key to display a list of Ring Types.
    4. Press the Scroll keys to highlight one of the available Ring Types.
    5. Press the Play soft key to hear a Ring Type.
    6. Press Select and then press the OK soft key to choose the Ring Type
    7. Press the Save soft key to save your selection and exit to return to the main menu.

Adjusting the Volume (Ringer, Handset, Speakerphone, and Headset)
Ringer Volume
    1. While the phone is not on a call, press the Up or Down Volume keys to hear a sample ring. (This is with the Handset in the Cradle.)
    2. As the ring plays, press the Up or Down Volume keys to adjust volume to the desired level.
    3. To save the ring volume setting, press the Settings button and then press the Save soft key.
Handset, Speakerphone, and Headset
    1. During a call, press the Volume key to increase or decrease the volume of your Handset, Speakerphone or Headset.
    2. To save the volume setting, press the Settings button and then press the Save soft key.
Note: The volume setting will only be changed for the option being used.
