An RSS feed allows you to gather data from a web site automatically without having to open up your browser. In this example we will create an RSS feed to the Blackboard Blog. To setup an RSS feed in Outlook 2010 follow the instructions below.
First you will need to go to the File drop down and select Account Settings.
You will need to select the RSS Feeds tabs which is the third one from the left. From here you can add, change, and remove selected RSS feeds.
To create a new feed click the New... button. This will open a dialogue box in which you will enter the location of the RSS feed you want put into Outlook. Once you have entered the path to the RSS feed click Add.
After clicking Add a dialogue box will appear that will allow you to change the options of the RSS feed. Nothing needs to be changed in order for the RSS feed to work, but if you want to change the name of the folder the RSS feed will be displayed in you can do so here. Click OK to finish.
If you created the feed correctly it will be displayed in the list of feeds.
Now that you have created the RSS feed you can find it in the left frame of Outlook. The feed used in this example should look something like the picture below.
