Systems Department Staff

		Grady Mangum Director Computer Services-Systems mangum@shsu.edu (936) 294-3974 Grady is responsible for the Systems and Telecommunications area of Computer Services. This area includes the delivery, security, and operational reliability, of university-wide telecommunications, network, server, and data center infrastructure services that are required to support the teaching, learning, research, and administrative functions of Sam Houston State University.
		Betty Brewer Telecommunication Specialist I brewer@shsu.edu (936) 294-3777 Responsible for telephone and cable billing and programming setups. Betty is the University liaison with Cox Cable, SBC and special event teams such as Fox-SW or ESPN. Betty has been with SHSU since 1985.
		James Horn Systems Analyst III horn@shsu.edu (936) 294-1042 Manages the administrative computing system, Nell, the Exchange mail server, the Mailing list on Unxmail, and the Telephone System. James started working for SHSU in June 1982 as a lab assistant for the lab in AB1. From there he became a Student Operator, Systems Programmer, where he was hired full-time in Oct 1985. He has a BS in CS from SHSU and graduated in May of 1984.
		Andrew Jahnke Systems Analyst II afj001@shsu.edu (936) 294-4218 Andrew is in charge of software installations for the campus. Andrew is an SHSU undergraduate majoring in Management Information Systems.
		Ronald Whitlock Network Analyst Coordinator ucs_rlw@shsu.edu (936) 294-3133 Responsible for campus network infrastructure. Ronnie received his bachelor's degree from SHSU in 2001 and his master's degree in Business Administration from SHSU in December 2005. Ronnie started working in the Computer Services department while a student.
		Rob Marti Systems Analyst II rjm002@shsu.edu (936) 294-3804 Responsible for assisting with the Linux servers.
		Jason Fuermann Network Analyst II jbf005@shsu.edu (936) 294-4140 Responsible for IP phone system. Jason started with the Computer Services department as a student worker in 2004. Received his Bachelors degree in Computer Science in 2006 from SHSU.

		Tom Dewing System Analyst I TED001@shsu.edu (936) 294-3557 Thomas Dewing has joined the UCS-Systems Department as a system administrator. Thomas is finishing up his Bachelor of Science degree in Computing Science here at SHSU. Thomas has just been honored as one of the members of SHSU's first-place team in the Defense Cyber Crime Center Digital Forensics Challenge!
		Norman Laskie Systems Analyst II nwl002@shsu.edu (936) 294-4774 Responsible for Macintosh system administration and assists the linux team in linux system administration.
		Rick Gattis Systems Analyst II rlg008@shsu.edu (936) 294-3557 Rick is an SHSU undergraduate. Rick transferred to Computer Services from the Physical Plant in August 2005.
		Adam Miller Systems Analyst I ajm023@shsu.edu (936) 294-2325 Adam is responsible for assisting with management, maintenance, and deployment of GNU/Linux servers for campus use. Adam currently has his Undergraduate degree in Computer Science and is currently attending Sam Houston State for his Masters Degree in Computer and Information Science.
		Steven Frey Systems Analyst Coordinator saf001@shsu.edu (936) 294-2739 Steven has worked in the IT field for K-12 and Higher Education institutions since 1997, and after earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from SHSU in 2000, Steven took a full-time position with Computer Services as a systems administrator responsible for Windows server administration and software deployment. In 2006, he received his Master of Science in Digital Forensics from SHSU and is now responsible for overseeing the Systems area which comprises of the Systems Administration and Managed Applications teams.
		Anne Robbins Systems Analyst IV arobbins@shsu.edu (936) 294-2469 Anne worked as a student worker while earning her degree at SHSU. After graduating in 2000 she has worked for small, medium, and large public and private corporations in Washington DC and in the Houston area. She is now responsible for the Microsoft Windows servers throughout the university.
		Tim McGuffin Information Security Analyst ucs_tim@shsu.edu (936) 294-4190 Responsible for Systems Administration and security. Tim has been with Computer Services since October of '98, and have been full time since June of 2001. He completed the CompTIA A+ Certification in March of '98 and the Cisco CCNA exam in December 2001. He received his BS in IT/Electronics with a minor in Chemistry in 2003, and his Master's degree in Digital Forensics.
		Marcus Keeling Network Analyst I mwk001@shsu.edu 936-294-1152 Marcus Keeling joined the systems department as a network administrator. Marcus is responsible for campus network infrastructure. Marcus started with the Computer Services department as a student worker in 2006. He is currently working on his Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems.
		Dustin Thornton Computer Operations Supervisor II ucs_dct@shsu.edu 936-294-3650 Dustin's primary responsibility is the 24/7 Operations support. He assists with the Helpdesk and the switchboard. Dustin is also responsible for creating visitor accounts. Dustin graduated with a B.A. in History and a minor in Computer Science from SHSU in 2002 and is currently taking graduate coursework. Dustin has worked for Computer Services since 2001.

		Matthew Major Computer Maintenance Supervisor mcm007@shsu.edu 936-294-4976 Matthew has a bachelor's degree from SHSU in Industrial Technology- Electronics, with a minor in MIS. Matthew is responsible for the maintenance team, and assists in managing the student workers for that area.
		Joel Ahumada Computer Systems Technician jxa007@shsu.edu 936-294-3665 Joel is working on his Bachelors in Industrial Technology - Electronics, with a minor in Computer Science. Joel shares responsibilities with Matthew in the maintenance shop. He assists with the management of student technicians and every day operation.
