A virus as defined by the Symantec Corporation is "A program that can "infect" or "contaminate" other programs by modifying them to include a copy of itself. Viral code is typically malicious and detrimental to data or system integrity."
In order to protect SHSU University data and equipment from viruses Computer Services has licensed virus protection software for University-owned PC and Macintosh computers. For Computer Services-maintained network PC's, the virus software can be found under the SHSU Utilities option on the Program menu. University Macintosh users may install the virus software from the Applications volume. If you need assistance with installing or using virus software please contact the Computer Services Helpdesk at X41950 or e-mail Helpdesk@shsu.edu.
